Conscious Hip-Hop Artist Dell P, Drops Wordsmith.

Dell-P is considered by many to embody the true spirit of hip hop. A West Philadelphia native who isn't afraid to forge his own path, he has won many awards  including Philadelphia Live Hip Hop Artist of the year 2017,  Black Gala Award Winner 2017, and as a nominee for the  2017 Black Power Music Award. His biggest influences are Nas and A Tribe Called Quest. It was in fact A Tribe Called Quest who fuelled his passion for hip-hop. 

Dell-P has performed at many premier locations in the Philadelphia area including the TLA, Sigma Sound, and the Wells Fargo Center. His musical talents have granted him the opportunity to open up for industry acts such as Arrested Development, Wyclef Jean, Rakim, Brand Nubian, Schoolly D, Roxanne Shante, Camp Lo, DMX, Slum Village, H-Town, Kelly Price, Fabolous, State Property, and more.

When asked about his journey as a conscious hip-hop artist, he says he wasn't always conscious. He tells a story that once when trying to get signed by a record label, they had advised him to use curse words in his music to reach the teenage audience but he refused. His refusal forged a new path. It is for this depth and classical hip-hop style to his music that Dell-P has been called, "the best kept secret of hip-hop" by XXL Magazine.

His latest EP, Wordsmith, has been released to rave reviews.  The super solid project covers a wide range of topics ranging from tales of nostalgia like the rush of first hearing A Tribe Called Quest‘s “Bonita Applebum, ” to social activism and thoughts of not being recognized on, “What About Me.” And oh yeah, let’s not forget the two “joints” for the ladies, “Scared of Love” and “W.C.E.,” plus the previously released David Banner and Jay Reezy-assisted, “Unapologetic.” In addition to features from Aviance, Taylormade, Trazsh Man and Mel Alston Jr.

My personal favorite, Dell P 4 President is an indictment on Donald Trump and the current political climate. According to Dell, if Donald Trump can be President, he too can be President.
