Book Announcement: How To Slay In Life, A Book of Proverbial Wisdom, Out Now!

Ding! Ding! Ding! I am here to announce the publication of my new book, How To Slay In Life:  A Book of Proverbial Wisdom. YEA!! I was inspired to write this book because of what I noticed to be the lack of African centered principles on how to succeed aka, Slay In Life. Back in the day, proverbs were very commonplace and were thrown around in daily conversations. Nowadays this is not the case at all. Proverbs were designed to give people a roadmap to success in the world, but with  its steady decline in usage, our conversations have become more artificial and empty. We look for answers in various self help books that are read today and forgotten tomorrow. Besides Biblical scriptures, there is nowhere  else to harness and retain  cultural wisdom in short phrases except for wise sayings such as : ‘A Stitch In Time Saves Nine,’ or ‘All Work and No Play Makes Jack A Doll Boy-" All Western contributions to the genre. It is for this reason I wrote this book, to bring us back to the original Self Help model as developed by those that came before us. Common sense knowledge on how to navigate through this increasingly treacherous life is needed more than ever as we seem to have lost touch of common decency and societal norms that kept us on the right path. It is my hope that this book/manual will ignite a conversation on the role that proverbs can play in our lives today.

I would love to thank Diane Sears, the Coordinator of In Search of Fatherhood for granting me the 2019 L. T Henry Arts and Culture Award for the publication of this book. I am forever grateful for her faith in me and for her encouragement.  And to all my supporters and readers of this blog, thank you!
